I am a lifelong sports fan and veteran collector...it all started on my 10th birthday in 1971 when I asked my parents for a "whole box" of 1971 Topps baseball cards. Despite their objection that it was a "complete waste of money," I will never forget sitting at the kitchen table and opening pack after pack...it was the best birthday ever! Somewhere along the way when set building and team collecting were replaced by chase insert cards, short prints, extremely high prices for very few cards, and the scratch-off lottery mentality of pack opening....I lost interest in buying product and opening packs. In the mid 1980's I began to shift my focus from card collecting to autograph collecting, and started sending out ttm requests. By the late 80's I had found a new passion, collecting in-person autographs. My collection currently consists of around 20,000 autographs, with probably around 75% of those obtained in person. I collect all sports, but the majority of my autographs are from baseball and PGA golf. I work on several sets (see my sets list below...always looking for help from other members and traders!) and love to get Sports Illustrated and other sports magazines signed. I have been a member of SCN since the early days of the website, and have met many wonderful friends and collectors who have helped me tremendously with my collection and greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the hobby.
