About Me: Hello, Everyone. I started collecting baseball card and autographs during the summer of 1974. I was 9 yrs. old, and that yrs. brought me so many wonderful childhood memories. That Christmas I received a signed ‘74 Thurman Munson signed card from my grandfather. He was a member of the same local as Thurman’s father. Early in 1975 I was fortunate to meet Ray Nitschke at a liquor store where he was doing a signing. The summer of 1976 my parents took us to my first Brewers game. The first autograph I was fortunate was Hank Aaron. As I stood by the Brewers dugout trying to get more autographs a buzzer sounded signaling the end of batting practice and the ushers came to clear us kids away to our seats. Walking in from the bullpen came Darrell Porter. I yelled his name asking for him to sign my program. He told me he couldn’t, he had to get into the clubhouse. So he tossed me ball. I was blessed in the fact I dropped the ball onto the field. The usher is getting more forceful in scurrying us kids away. Mr. Porter came over and told the usher to leave me alone and he lifted me up onto the field so I could retrieve that ball. Then he set me back into the stands. My grandparents collected autographs when they attended Milwaukee Braves game. Which they gave to me. It was my grandmother who had the idea of writing to the players in care of their team requesting their autograph. She also had the great idea of writing to the players who lived outside the U. S.. Something that’s crazy is I became a huge fan of Darrell Porter. Like him I became a drunk. I remember seeing him on the cover of the Sporting News giving testimony to his addiction. And how he came to receive Jesus Christ and received Christ as his Savior and the Lord delivered him. On 3/4/91 I to get Jesus Christ and was delivered, washed clean of my sins. Oh like Mr. Porter I to live for Jesus. And how I love Him so much
